We are suddenly compelled to announce the passing of Mama Janet, founder of the Munyaka Children’s Center and School.
She worked first as a teacher and later as a healthcare provider in the Watamu community. She was an activist in the 1980s.
Mama Janet founded the Munyaka Children’s Center, located in Watamu. Until her illness, she passionately dedicated herself to helping disadvantaged children, providing them with food, shelter, education, and spiritual support.
She raised her own children with great enthusiasm, passing on her spirit and helping them find their smiles again.
The management team continues to care for the children at the center in various ways, thanks in part to a few heartfelt benefactors who sponsor and support them.
Until her final moments, she remained a woman of great physical and spiritual strength—and deeply caring.
She showed immense love for underprivileged children and the whole community, sharing her smile with everyone…
God has taken back what belongs to Him. She will be deeply missed by all.
